Sea Kelp Naturally Kelp for Dogs
Packed with nutrients using kelp for dogs is one of the best things you can do for your four legged family member. Adding a natural ingredient from the sea like Kelp for your dog’s diet can help in preventing anal gland problems, arthritis and also act as a natural flea repellent. Many holistic minded veterinarians are now recommending kelp for dogs as part of a balanced diet.
Thyroid, Adrenal and Pituitary Glands
Kelp is rich in iodine. Iodine is a chemical element necessary (at least in trace amounts) to prevent a condition called hypothyroidism in dogs (it is called goiter in human beings). The rich mix of iodine and other minerals in kelp makes it an ideal supplement to keep your pup’s entire glandular system, particularly the thyroid, adrenal and pituitary glands, in healthy working order. This in turn ensures your dog’s metabolism works efficiently, which is an important element in maintaining a healthy weight.
If your dog becomes listless, develops a limp or coordination problems, or in extreme conditions, develops a tumorous growth where the thyroid gland should be, it could be hypothyroidism. The iodine-deprived thyroid gland can result in a whole range of nervous problems as well as developmental disabilities in dogs.
Kelp for Dogs With Allergies and Fleas
Anything which helps flea control is good news for dog owners. Diane Stein, in her book “The Natural Remedy Book for Dogs and Cats,” says after three weeks of kelp supplementation there is a noticeable reduction in fleas on animals who have an infestation. This suggests that kelp repulses fleas and that using the supplement regularly is a useful addition for flea treatment. Kelp also reduces itchiness in those dogs with skin allergies and improves the overall condition of your dog’s skin and coat.

General Health
Kelp also supports many of your dog’s other body functions. It cleanses the digestive system and keeps its juices balanced. Because it is high in iron it fortifies the blood, which then helps the heart to pump more efficiently. In older dogs especially it is recommended for strengthening the immune system, which can protect them from a range of diseases. Also, dogs on kelp supplements are thought to heal faster from surgery, because the amino acids in the seaweed support tissue repair. And it could help you and your dog to live longer. The Japanese have long maintained that eating seaweed is a source of their longevity.
Some of the benefits associated with kelp for dogs include the following:
- Reduce dental plaque and tarter buildup in dogs. Swedish studies have shown that kelp supplements reduce dental plaque and tarter buildup in dogs within a few weeks. Some English research indicates the effect may be due to a bacteria, Bacillus lichenformis that resides on the surfaces of the kelp and releases an enzyme that breaks down the plaque coating on the teeth.
- Kelp for dogs reduces itchiness and skin conditions. There is substantial evidence that kelp in the dog’s diet will repel fleas. Kelp can be an important natural addition to the organic or chemical flea-fighting treatment you have chosen for your dog. Kelp reduces itchiness in dogs with skin allergies and improves the general condition of skin and coat. If your dog has itchy skin and seems always to be scratching, kelp supplements may make your dog’s life a lot more pleasant.
- High in iron and calcium. It can supplement other nutrients in food to prevent iron deficiency and improve the ability of the blood to distribute oxygen to the cells. Dogs on Kelp supplements may heal from injury faster because of the iron enrichment. The calcium may help prevent arthritis and bone conditions.
- Rich in iodine. Iodine is a chemical element necessary (at least in trace amounts) to prevent a condition called hypothyroidism in dogs (it is called goiter in human beings). Kelp for dogs contains natural amino acids. The amino acids, especially glycine, alanine, arginine, proline, glutamic, and aspartic acids in natural kelp supplement may support tissue repair. The Japanese have long maintained that eating seaweed (which is customary in Japan) improves longevity.

Extraordinary protects and customer care. THANK YOU!!!
Love the idea of what it does, my son is a logger so his dog is in the woods alot and has contracted lice, so I am using the Peanut Butter to get it in his tummy. He resorted to the Collar, to hopefully help, ( we don’t like the chemical side of the collar, but his dog is itching so badly, we thought to try both, when collar life runs out, hopefully the kelp will be the long term solution) Thanks !
I Don’t know yet as I just got it.
I can’t really comment at this time except the dog likes it. I think it is too soon to say what it does for him.
